Ski Vacation with a Family on a Budget

Author: Eriani Doyel

Have you ever thought about taking a ski vacation with your family? If you are like most families you like to spend time together doing things that everyone in your family enjoys. But, you may think that taking a ski vacation as a family would be too expensive. However, if you are willing to do a little research, you can find terrific deals online that will make your ski vacation more affordable and less financially stressful. Before you talk to a travel agent, go online and do some research so that you will be aware of what is out there.

One big way that you can save money on a family ski vacation is to find a place that offers a kids stay and ski free pass. This means that your children (usually those under twelve) will be able to stay in your room and they may get lift tickets and ski equipment as well in the package. You should still look at some other types of resorts for your ski vacation to see which discount and resort would be the best for your money.

Staying a short distance from the slopes and the lift is a good idea. If you can find a resort for your ski vacation that has townhouses or villas that back up to the slopes this is ideal. This will make it easy for you to get back for a rest or a little snack break when the kids get tired.

Many resorts and ski areas offer activities other than skiing that may appeal to members of your family. You can go snowboarding, tubing, snowmobiling, or tobogganing on your ski vacation if you want to do something a little different. If you happen to have an infant or toddler who is too young to be out on the slopes skiing, then look to see if the resort offers child care-some do.

One thing that you really should consider for your vacation is to have your child take ski lessons from a certified instructor. Whether they are a beginner or they have had a little experience it can give them more confidence and reinforce proper techniques and safety guidelines. Then, you can just enjoy the new things they have learned without the frustration you may both feel if you try to do the teaching.

So, get out on the slopes and have a great time bonding with your family!
